Our Ambassadors

Meet some of our top ambassadors!

Joy Pamnani

Vice President

Currently a journalism student at the University of Hong Kong, Joy is an experienced public speaker and has been part of the Ambassador Outreach since 2014. Joy is a talented speaker and has won awards at the HK Schools Speech Festival, Sing Tao Debating Contest and World Scholars Cup.

 

Aside from speaking, Joy regularly writes for newspapers such as SCMP Young Post, and runs the Sir Ti Liang Yang English Language Ambassadors Outreach Programme blog.

Brian Carl 

President 

For over 4 years, Brian has been working with The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups in developing and delivering English public speaking lessons to secondary school students across Hong Kong.

 

To this date, Brian has taught over 2,000 students and is in charge of curriculum development and oversight of the Programme.

Claudia Tam

Senior Ambassador

Claudia is a senior ambassador, and has been part of theSir Ti Liang Yang English Language Ambassadors Outreach Programme for four years now.


Claudia realized her passion for public speaking when during her first debate competition in Year 8. Since then, she’s placed top 10 in the HKFYG English Public Speaking Competition and represented Hong Kong at the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships for 3 consecutive years.

Cyrena So

Vice President

Cyrena has been with the Ambassadors Group for 2 years. She is very active in School Visit Workshops, Winners-to-winners Workshops and the group’s very own SPEAKSY Workshop. She was also the Junior Division Top Ten and Senior Division Semi-finalist in the HKFYG Standard Chartered English Public Speaking Contest in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

 

Cyrena has been with the Ambassadors Group for 2 years. She is very active in School Visit Workshops, Winners-to-winners Workshops and the group’s very own SPEAKSY Workshop.

Belinda Ng

Belinda is a Year 12 student at South Island School, and has been part of the Ambassador Outreach for 2 years now.

 

Her experience in public speaking began four years back, and she has taken part in various competitions including the Standard Chartered Public Speaking Contest, Hong Kong British Parliamentary Debating Society, and HKSDPSC.

Chun Yu Yiu

Senior Ambassador

Having joined the ambassadors since 2012, Chun Yu has worked with many students from all over Hong Kong. He believes English is arguably the main language for communication around the world, and is delighted to see students improve workshop after workshop by seeing their confidence in English grow.

Gregory Wong

Senior Ambassador

"Gregory is a passionate ambassador, and has represented his school and adopted home of Hong Kong multiple times with pride.

 

A nerdy and verbose over-analyzer, Gregory frequently wonders about the effectiveness of the exams he must sit for the, the Dying Slowly Everyday (DSE). When not sleeping or being a human sushi roll, he can be found supporting the Red Sox or rapping along to Hamilton."

Jennifer Yu

Jennifer has been in theSir Ti Liang Yang English Language Ambassadors Outreach Programme since 2015, participating in competitions ranging from the Standard Chartered English Public Speaking Contest to Hong Kong Speech Festivals.

 

Apart from her passion for public speaking and debate, she is a pluviophile, and would rather spend her day curled up in a corner with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate.

Cherry Hung

Currently in Form 4, Cherry has been part of the Ambassador Outreach since August 2016. She has joined the Toastmasters International Youth Leadership Programme and the subsequent Prepared Speech Contest. Other competitions include the Speech Festival and EPS Contest.

As an ambassador, Cherry strongly hopes to help others speak for the better.

Bella Mak

Bella has been part of the Outreach since 2016. One of her most memorable public speaking experiences was at a Model United Nations Summit organised by the Global Youth Minister, where she was awarded Best Speaker.

With her valuable experience, Bella hopes to inspire young people to strive for excellence in English language and public speaking.

Samantha Lai

Samantha is a Form 6 student at Diocesan Girls' School and has been part of the Ambassador Program since 2016.

 

She previously participated in the EPS contest and also represented HK in WIDPSC 2016 at Pittsburgh.

Marcus Chow

Marcus Chow is an old boy of La Salle College and current law student at CityU. Ever since junior high, he has taken part various speech and public speaking activities actively, later progressing to join the LSC English Debating Team in Form 4. In 2015, he had the chance to compete in the grand finals of the Standard Chartered EPS Contest to place third.

 

Marcus hopes to share his public speaking experience with students in Hong Kong to help them foster the art.

Kinnie Yu

Kinnie has been part of the Outreach since 2016. As a 15-year old girl, she has joined many public speaking competitions.

 

When Kinnie first came across public speaking, she was nervous about speaking in front of so many people. But as she spoke more, she took the initiative to join different kinds of competitions. She hopes to spread the art among young people in Hong Kong.

Jess Ma

Not the usual experienced public speaker that has won tonnes of accolades, Jess is a speaker on the Ambassador team with lots of experience. Having participated in speaking competitions ranging from prepared speeches to impromptu speaking, she offers excellent advice to aspiring speakers.

Naomi Tang

“Naomi is a passionate public speaker. She has been an ambassador for two years and currently studies at Lester B. Pearson United World College. 

 

She was first introduced to public speaking in 2014 and has since participated in competitions such as the RTHK English Public Speaking Contest and HKPDS as a finalist. She also enjoys debating and joining Model UN conferences.”

Karina Poon

Karina has been an Ambassador since August 2016. Her public speaking journey started in 2013, and in 2016, she represented Hong Kong at the National English Public Speaking contest in Beijing, and won first prize.

 

Karina is also passionate about debating.

Christie Leung

Christie is a confident speaker, and she believes public speaking has helped her express ideas and opinions better over the years.

After being part of her school's English Debating Team, Christie saw great benefit and she hopes more young people reap the benefits of public speaking through the ambassador programme.

 

Afterall, the importance of speaking eloquently in front of a crowd cannot be neglected.

Leo Ng

Leo has been part of the Ambassador team since 2016. As vice-chairperson of English Debating Club for two years and best debater at the Sing Tao Debate Competition, Leo has excellent public speaking skills.

 

He is also qualified as a leader, and has joined the Summer School for Effective Leadership held by The University of Hong Kong.

Geoff Lo

Geoff has been an ambassador since 2015 He is keen on public speaking and debating, and joins competitions regularly.

 

When he's not doing either, you will find him hanging out with his best bros at school or at home playing with Legos.

Doris Mok

Doris Mok is a sixth-former at St. Paul’s Co-educational College, and has been part of the Outreach for two years.

 

Doris has won many awards including the EPS contest Merit Award, and second prize at the Thirteenth China Daily “21st Century Cup” National High School English Speaking Competition, representing Hong Kong.

Theo Winnington-Ingram

 

Theo Winnington-Ingram has been an ambassador since 2012, and he studies  in Munsang College.

 

Having joined many public speaking and debating competitions since Primary 6, Theo has improved his speaking skills over the years, and hopes to help others with his personal experience in Public Speaking.

Alexander Tsang

Alexander Tsang became a member of the Ambassador Programme in August 2016.

 

In February 2016, he obtained the Junior Division Championship of the HKFYG Public Speaking Contest. He then participated in the "21st Century Cup" National English Speaking Competition as a Hong Kong representative, and was named Champion of the Junior High School Division.

Alexander is a confident speaker, and hopes to inspire young people in the art of public speaking.

Vedika Vishweshwar

Vedika has been in the Ambassador Outreach since 2014.

 

Passionate about public speaking, she actively engages in both Model United Nations and public speaking competitions. 

 

Vedika is also an active contributor to our Sir Ti Liang Yang English Language Ambassadors Outreach Programme blog.

Clemence Chan

 

Clemence became a member of the Sir Ti Liang Yang English Language Ambassadors Outreach Programme in August 2017. She has won many awards in the HK Schools Speech Festival.

 

She has also been involved in several writing competitions as she believes words can express ideas aesthetically. 

As an ambassador, she hopes to inspire others to engage in public speaking with her personal public speaking experience.

Jason Yiu

Jason is a passionate and positive. He likes socialising with people and making friends. He believes that being optimistic can help a person to overcome his or her difficulties.

 

He likes public speaking a lot because he believes that public speaking will help improve his listening skills and personal communication skills.
 

Nicholas Lam

 

Nic is currently in his senior year at the Canadian International School of Hong Kong.

His passion for public speaking evolved from lazing around at his school's public speaking club, to becoming president of that club, or obtaining the ‘First Runner Up’ in the Senior Division Finals of the HKFYG Public Speaking Competition.

Amy Lam

Amy has been part of the Ambassador Outreach since 2017. She is passionate about public speaking.


Having joined different competitions such as The RTHK Public Speaking Contest and Speech Festival, Amy has improved her speaking skills over years. She hopes to inspire others and spread the art of public speaking with her personal experiences.

Barsa Rai

 

Having been fascinated at a young age whilst looking upon people giving speeches effortlessly, the determination to perform the same magic grew in Barsa .

 

She has gained experience and won numerous awards, such as the Standard Chartered Public Speaking Contest and the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival.

Janice Cheung

Janice may be a novice ambassador, but she is no newbie when it comes to public speaking.

 

She has joined Model ASEAN, and Model United Nations by both IGNIS and CUHK, as well as the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival, proud to be 2nd runner up in Poem Recitation and Champion in Prose Reading.
 

Lotus Yu

“Conquer your fear and step out your comfort zone.”


Lotus has joined the Sir T.L. Young English Ambassador Scheme from 2017. With a curious soul and passionate heart towards ways of expression, she has been awarded in various performing arts competitions, like public speaking, impromptu speech and dramatic duologue.

Fion Hui

 

Fion is a recent graduate of Li Po Chun United World College. She is a new ambassador but has prior experience with public speaking and debating. 


Fion believes that public speaking is a form of art that originates from the heart and that it is a therapeutic way of expressing emotions. 

Macy Chung

 

Macy has been part of the Ambassador Outreach programme since August 2017.

 

Being a passionate speaker, Macy believes that public speaking is the most effective way to influence the audience into action and to achieve her dream of a gender equal world. 

Eda Wong

 

Eda is a form 4 student from Ying Wa Girls' School .She joined the Ambassador team in 2017.

Eda took part in the the EPS contest in 2016 and has joined the Toastmasters International Youth Leadership Programme. She is a confident and talkative girl, also passionate about singing.
 

Amanda Xiang

Currently studying in Northwestern University, Amanda has been involved with The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups as an ambassador and as a part-time coordinator for the public speaking contest for the past 5 years. 

Still an avid public speaker and MUN-er, Amanda engages in voluntary teaching whenever she’s back in Hong Kong. You can find her working as a part-time reporter for Xinhua News Agency.

Snehaa Senthamilselvan Easwari

 

Snehaa is a Year 12 student at Li Po Chun United World College and has been been part of the Ambassador Outreach for 3 years.

 

Her experience with public speaking began five years ago when she joined the school debating club, and competitions such as the Standard Chartered Public Speaking Contest, HKSPSC and HKIDO. Snehaa also has a love for Model United Nations. She writes for the SCMP Young Post and is part of the Kids4Kids Advocate Leadership Team.

Ryan Hon

Ryan joined the Ambassador team in 2016. He took part in the the EPS contest in 2015 and 2016, and the Speech Festival in the same years.

 

Through his passion from public speaking, Ryan hopes to make a difference and promote public speaking among young people in Hong Kong.

Bakhita Fung

Bakhita finds herself doing a lot of debating and public speaking - almost too much talking for the people who have to deal with her daily. Regardless, she enjoys being part of the Ambassadors Outreach and is eager to share her passion with Hong Kong students. She has represented Hong Kong in debating and public speaking numerous times and some of her accomplishments are embarrassingly exposed on YouTube. 

Aqua Chan

Aqua is now majoring in English and English Education at HKU. Having profound interest in speaking, he wants to use his pedagogical knowledge to polish students’ public speaking skills.

Dixon Cheng

Currently studying Linguistics at the University of Hong Kong, Dixon is passionate in languages, education and voluntary services. He was the debate team in high school and has experience in leading groups in various events in HKU and other youth groups.  Also, he has been teaching for 3 years in different tutorial centers and voluntary teaching programs.

Jenny Xiao

 

Jenny is a sophomore at the University of Hong Kong, majoring in International Politics.

As a confident and talented speaker, she is the champion of the 2017 HKU Public Speaking Competition. She is also a tutor at the HKU Centre for Applied English Studies and a proud member of the Ambassadors Outreach.

Florence Yiu

Florence has been an ambassador for two years. Having served an MC, and participated in competitions such as the EPS contest, she believes public speaking is a fabulous form of expressing ideas.

Juliet Leung

Juliet has been in the Ambassadors Outreach since 2014. As an active debater and public speaker, Juliet won the EPS contest in 2014, and has represented her school and Hong Kong in debating competitions.

She hopes to offer advice and inspire more people to speak through her experience in prepared and impromptu speaking.
