4 Ways to Ace DSE Paper 4

Who doesn't love a good listicle? To end our DSE English series, we've got few tips that help you ace Paper 4, Speaking!

1. Speak more English in daily life!

This is the most organic way of improving your English within the shortest period of time. No longer will you have to grapple with words halfway through a sentence, because by the time April comes by, the language will be able to come naturally to you.

2. Actively try to schedule practices with your classmates!

As the saying goes, practice makes perfect! The more you practice, the better you’ll be able to express your thoughts in a concise and coherent manner when you have to later on.

3. Read up!

Many English speaking topics are based off social issues and phenomenons. You never know, the article you read about buskers in HK may prove to be somehow relevant to your actual discussion topic in the exam!

4. Expose yourself to English culture through the means of popular culture!

An integral part of the English speaking exam (besides speaking) is listening and reacting appropriately to your fellow exam candidates. By watching more English films or listening to more English songs, not only will you grow accustomed to deciphering what other people say, you can also familiarize yourself with linguistics and response patterns. In other words, you’ll be able to turn up with an original way to continue the conversation and rock those DSE grades.
