Keeping up on current events can be exhausting sometimes. After a day of school, tuition and extra- curricular activities, it’s tempting to just get what you have to do done and go straight to bed. But what if I were to tell you that there’s a FUN way to keep yourself updated on what’s going on?

That’s right - Comedians!

Check out this week’s read for top comedians you should follow to improve your English and public speaking skills!

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

If you’re into British accents, photoshopped scenarios or cute animals, this is THE show for you. Last Week Tonight is a weekly show that is approximately 30 minutes long. For each week, John tackles a number of hot topics then move on to a main segment. The research is thorough, the analysis is brilliant and there are just enough jokes in between to entertain.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee

The title of the show is far from the only thing that’s provocative about it (albeit in a very different sense from what you might be thinking right now). Samantha Bee’s scathing remarks, hilarious interviews and plentiful merchandise are only one of few things that makes this show so very lovable. Plus, as you can see, there aren’t that many women who appear all that much as comedians in late night TV.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah

Believe it or not, John Oliver, Stephen Colbert and Samantha Bee all previously worked on The Daily Show. It’s the longest- running program on Comedy Central and has won quite a number of awards. While Jon Stewart was the show’s old host (and a brilliant one, nonetheless), Trevor Noah has also done quite a lot to prove himself as the new face of one of America’s favorite satire shows. His interviews are on- point and the humor is definitely there.

Late Night with Seth Meyers

Late Night with Seth Meyers contains celebrity interviews, sketches and even musical performances. However, ‘A Closer Look’ is definitely a segment that must be checked out. In this segment, Seth Meyers discusses contemporary events in a detailed manner. His takes are oftentimes both entertaining and informative.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert includes both interviews and monologues. In his monologues, Stephen Colbert often provides his own unique take on current events. His satirical take on President Trump’s various actions have been quite the highlight of the show ever since the inauguration. It’s not hard to see why. His jokes are truly inventive and the interviews are thoroughly- conducted.

Not to mention, he delivers regular monologues that go really well with your daily dose of news.

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

Everybody’s heard of Jimmy Fallon. Star of the Tonight Show, Michelle Obama’s Evolution of Mom dancing partner and a celebrity with his own ride at Universal Studios Orlando, Fallon really knows how to reach out to different audiences. Welcoming guests from different backgrounds, his fun-loving personality speaks out for the family-friendly show that ’s all about having fun through games and interviews.

Fallon does occasional monologues covering the Trump crisis, but his focus is the family-friendly fun of a talk show.

The Late Late Show with James Corden

Carpool Karaoke made Corden famous on the Late Late Show, but besides the singing, he’s got a lot more to offer. Interviewing celebrities, delivering monologues and hosting games are just a few examples.

Corden is applauded for his creativity in humour, as he puts an interesting spin on topics that might never be otherwise considered funny. A good example is his CrossWalk the Musical segment, especially the latest Beauty and the Beast rendition.
